CHICAGO — A tragic shooting early Monday morning in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago left two men, 31-year-old Derrick D. Harris and 37-year-old Devantel Strickland, dead and a third man, 24, injured. The incident occurred just before 2:45 a.m. on the 7200 block of South Paxton Avenue, where responding officers discovered three adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both Harris and Strickland were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead. A third man, who was shot in the right arm, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and is in good condition. The Chicago Police Department’s Area One detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but no arrests have been made, and the motive remains unclear.
