Shreveport, LA – A delivery driver was shot and seriously injured late Monday morning in the parking lot of a Walgreens located at the intersection of Kings Highway and Line Avenue, prompting C.E. Byrd High School to temporarily go into lockdown as a precautionary measure.

According to the Shreveport Police Department (SPD), officers responded to the scene around 10:20 a.m. after reports were received from the Caddo 911 Communications Department of a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, officers located the injured driver outside the Walgreens, where emergency responders quickly provided life-saving treatment.

The victim was transported to Ochsner Health Hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries. His identity and current condition have not yet been disclosed by authorities.

In response to the shooting, C.E. Byrd High School, located nearby, was temporarily placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of students and staff. The lockdown was lifted shortly after 10:50 a.m., once police determined there was no ongoing threat to the school.


Heavy Police Presence at the Scene

A total of 14 SPD units were deployed to secure the area and initiate an investigation. Crime scene investigators are currently processing evidence at the scene and interviewing witnesses to piece together the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

At this time, no suspect information has been released, and the motive for the shooting remains unknown. Authorities are treating the incident as an active investigation and are calling on the public for assistance.

The shooting has raised concerns within the Shreveport community, particularly regarding safety in public spaces. SPD spokesperson Lt. Marcus Hines stated:

“This is an unfortunate and senseless act of violence. We are working diligently to identify the suspect or suspects involved and ensure justice is served.”
